Katherine's birthday is actually February 4th. The party was a murder
mystery party. The mystery involved a murdered classmate days before a
scheduled reunion. Each of Katherine's guests was sent a character they
were to play, complete with secrets and tasks to complete during the
party. The party was entitled
and the kids
dressed in 50's costuming. The kids (17 guests including Emily and
Hannah) really got into the spirit of the game. Katherine and her
friend, Yuhan, were a husband and wife detective team. (Beth chose the
character assignments randomly.) They along with the rest of the
classmates at the reunion were to ask questions, study the "evidence,"
bribe each other (with play money) for secrets, ... until at last the
murderer was revealed. There were winners for sleuthing, most money,
acting, and costuming.
The party was held at our church, and the room was transformed complete
with a life-size Elvis. Mary brought decorations from Moorhead. We had rocking music that Laurel ripped for us. On the menu: root beer floats, burgers, and a
giant banana split.
